The Fall Semester serves as both an introduction to Cinema for Drama students and development period for the narrative short films produced during the Spring Semester with Media Studies. During the fall semester, MFA Drama students are invited to take on various roles as Directors, Writers, Actors, Cinematographers and Editors for these short films during the Fall Semester. The course meets regularly in the Fall semester on Thursdays from 9am-11:30am in Arnhold Hall, Studio 930. Actors have a series of separate on-camera workshops during the fall semester on Mondays. Directors have a series of separate Directing for Cinema seminars on Wednesdays. Actors audition both in person on-camera and through self-tape auditions in December for the Spring short film productions. During the Fall Semester, MFA Drama Playwrights each develop and complete two short screenplays for production in the Spring. MFA Drama Directors each will direct one of the screenplays in the Spring Semester. Current MFA Drama Acting students will perform in the films.
