This course is designed to introduce students to the basics of environmental policy analysis. It will provide an overview of major environmental issues with an emphasis on the analysis necessary to frame, design, and evaluate these issues and understand the proposed solutions put forth by public and private agencies. Policy analysis requires both political and technical skills so we will address both aspects of this course through readings, assignments and case studies. Students will learn basic concepts of policy analysis and apply them to real-life environmental problems in need of policy solutions. The objectives of this course are to equip students to recognize, understand and deal effectively with complex environmental problems in the environmental sciences field.
