This course examines the legal structure of the US immigration system and current policy debates. Topics to be addressed include: categories for admission of immigrants, refugee and asylum law and policies, due process in immigration proceedings, citizenship law (including birthright citizenship, naturalization and dual nationality), detention policies, undocumented migration, legalization proposals and enforcement policies.
