Drawing in Motion

Parsons Paris: Parsons Paris

Undergraduate Course
Drawing in Motion
Fall 2026
Taught By: Kathleen Ritter
Section: PC1

CRN: 19518

Credits: 3

Drawing in Motion expands drawing beyond the static page into time-based, spatial, and performative forms. Students explore drawing as an event, a record of movement, and a mediator between analogue gestures and digital systems. Through physical actions, embodied mark-making, sensor-based capture, animation, and spatial projection, students investigate how drawings can be generated by bodies, environments, and machines. The course emphasizes hybrid workflows that translate movement into data, gesture into structure, and time into form. This studio supports AMT students in developing temporal thinking, process literacy, and experiential outcomes across physical and digital domains.
