This course provides a solid foundation in finance, covering both entrepreneurial finance principles and personal finance essentials. Entrepreneurial Finance: The first section prepares students to tackle the financial challenges faced by startups and growing businesses. It introduces the time value of money and develops students' ability to construct financial timelines, apply discounting and compounding techniques, and rigorously evaluate future cash flows. The second section develops core techniques for assessing investment opportunities, including Net Present Value (NPV), annual rates of return, payback periods, and Internal Rate of Return (IRR). Personal Finance: The second part focuses on essential personal finance topics, including budgeting, saving, and investing. Students will learn how to create and manage a budget, set financial goals, build an emergency fund, and explore various investment options, including stocks, bonds, and retirement accounts.
