Sustainability Seminar
Fall 2024
Taught By: Miriam Josi
Section: PC1

CRN: 15615

Credits: 3

In this applied-theory seminar, students are enabled to critically understand the environmental, economic and social challenges facing today’s creative industries and analyze their own related practices. How may designers and artists speak to the past, influence the present or envision a speculative future? What does it mean to produce art and fashion in an era of planetary-scale change? Students work in groups to establish cohesive and ethical responses to these questions in collaboration with theoreticians and practitioners. The sustainable thinking approach developed in Seminar 1 informs the evolution and artistic outcomes of Core Project 1.
