CRN: 7654
Credits: 3
This course is designed for students who have completed French Intensive 3 or the equivalent and is entirely conducted in French. Through the viewing of movies from the French current cinema, this course will focus on helping students to practice and improve their oral comprehension as well as their conversational and pronunciation skills in French. Students will analyze the mise en scène in movies of various genres (comedy, drama, biopic) and discuss topics such as Youth, Art, Environment and Immigration. Students will expand their grammatical and lexical knowledge as they watch some selected scenes in class, read and eventually play out the transcription. In addition, they will have the opportunity to read short film reviews and write their own, thus enabling them to express and defend their point of view in French. The whole experience will deepen their understanding of the French society and of the cinematic image in general.
