"Open to: This course is designed for students who have completed French Intensive 3 or the equivalent and, it is entirely conducted in French. What is the definition of French chic? How was the concept of la Parisienne born, and how fashion and aesthetics are reflected in French literature? Through the analysis of the articulation between literature and fashion, students will gain an understanding of representative French literary works inspired by the concept of chic. They will improve their communicative, reading, writing and critical skills through close textual readings, discussions, and writing sessions. The texts studied will include various genres - poetry, novels, short stories, and theater - with a focus on short texts. Literary tours and site visits (maisons des écrivains, museums) will illustrate the connection between literature, Paris and fashion. "
