Curating Fashion: History, Theory and Practice
Parsons Paris: Parsons Paris
CRN: 14199
Credits: 3
This course aims to investigate the role of curatorial practices within contemporary fashion. The concepts of “curator” and “curating” have drastically changed in the last forty years. These terms are not anymore chained to the realm of museums but today they are associated to a method of thinking, applicable to the creation of fashion collections, magazines and online projects. This course explores this shift, focusing on the ways this new practice has affected the development of new processes and methods of creation within fashion. This course does not limit the curatorial practice within the walls of the museum but it enlarges its horizons, exploring the different elongations that this practice has developed in the last years.
