Creative industries have been recently characterized by an increasing attention to content creation in relation to social justice and cultural issues at large (gender and race inclusivity, class and identity politics). The figure of the ‘content creator’ is now emerging as an established actor in the field of communication in fashion, design and the arts; redefining the boundaries of creative fields and rethinking interdisciplinary practices of communication for brands and cultural institutions. The course focuses on contemporary content creation in the fashion industry and the ways brands, independent publishers and museums developed communication strategies. A particular focus will be about the ways research - and historical narratives - are becoming a central aspect in communication practices and how these practices are changing the idea of research at large. The course will have an interdisciplinary approach mixing fields of art, design, fashion and publishing. It will have a workshop format where we will have key figures from the fashion, design, publishing industry. For this year, the course will be created in collaboration with Elise by Olsen and the International Library of Fashion Research.
