Fashion and Form 1 is a two-semester course, spanning over Fall and Spring. The course offers an introductory level foundation, preparing for the Sophomore Fashion Design year. Centered around the creative process, the course equips students with a preparatory skill set through non-traditional approaches, in both 2D and 3D methods. Students explore the value of in-depth research, the construction of a narrative, and the translation of research references into design ideas. Through non-linear methodologies, students develop an unconventional, individual design vocabulary - cultivated through research, draping, sketching, and sewing. By the end of the semester, students realize a look in 3D and a capsule collection in 2D.
