Curatorial Management in the Arts (Workshop Format with The Community) This course explores practices of managing and developing artistic projects within and outside the institutionalized art world via a workshop course developed in collaboration with The Community. Established in 2016, The Community is a collective-run, non-profit multidisciplinary art institution that has developed critical reflections and exhibitions on the Collaborating with art institutions such as The Biennale of Venice, Brands like Diesel or no- profit Foundations like Tom of Finland Foundation. Using the Community as point of departure, the course will push students to explore the contemporary practices of exhibiting and developing interdisciplinary projects in the fields of art, fashion and design. We will discuss the creation of cultural projects, funding search, collaborative actions and the role of art/design/fashion between public and private institutions. This course has a workshop-based format that will bring students to meet three times (Friday and Saturdays) during the Spring Semester and developed, with the help of The Community director and staff, an individual project around the question of curatorial management in the arts.
