Introduction to Collaborative Piano
College of Performing Arts: Mannes
CRN: 17614
Credits: 2
As collaboration has become more important than ever before within the field of music, pianists have been increasingly expected to know how to accompany their colleagues. This course acts as a means for graduate-level solo pianists to begin honing their collaborative skills in a safe environment, and it will allow solo pianists to gain hands-on experience while collaborating with their peers. Each week, students will collaborate with special guests in the class, perform for the teacher and their fellow students, and receive feedback in a closed-door masterclass. Students will gain significant insight into collaborative literature and repertoire, and will have lectures focused on pedagogical methodologies pertaining to collaborative piano. Open to juniors and seniors by permission.
