This performance-based course offers the opportunity for students to become more fluent in non-standard musical languages, repertoire, and techniques, while providing a safe environment in which to experiment with group improvisation and open form pieces. Instructor and noted new music artist Rebekah Heller will guide students through contemporary repertoire from a very diverse collection of composers that includes graphic scores, text scores, and collaborative improvisation. All students will also write their own pieces and interpret pieces by their peers! Students will work towards a final, public performance at the end of the semester that will be collaboratively curated by the students.
