This course offers the opportunity for Mannes students to become more fluent in the musical languages, repertoire, and techniques of our time, while providing a safe environment in which to experiment with improvisation and open form pieces. Instructor and noted new music artist Rebekah Heller will guide students through contemporary repertoire from a very diverse collection of composers that includes graphic scores, text scores, and collaborative improvisation. Students will work towards a final, public performance at the end of the semester that will be collaboratively curated by the students.
