This course offers the opportunity for Mannes students to become more fluent in the musical languages, repertoire, and techniques of our time, while providing a safe environment in which to experiment with improvisation. Instructor and noted new music artist Rebekah Heller will guide students through contemporary repertoire from a very diverse collection of composers that includes graphic score notation, extended techniques, and collaborative improvisation. Students will work towards a midterm performance and a final, public performance at the end of the semester.
