COURSE DESCRIPTION Provide an understanding of the characteristics of 18th C. figured bass and the principles of coninuo playing; training in playing three and four part settings of figured bass Chorales and in playing of basic continuo types; playing and creating modulations, variations. Training in fundamentals of Orchestral Score Reading LEARNING OUTCOMES By the successful completion of this course, students will be able to show: 1. Ability to play basic continuo, prepared and at sight. 2. Ability to play modulations and variations 3. Ability to play excerpts from Classical and Early 19th C. orchestral score
