COURSE DESCRIPTION Goals: Training in playing advanced examples of continuo; training in reading continuo at sight; training in preparing and improvising at the keyboard an exposition of a sonata allegro movement in Classical or Romantic style; training in sight reading 18th and 19th c. keyboard music; ensemble continuo exercises. LEARNING OUTCOMES By the successful completion of this course, students will be able to show: 1. Ability to use improvisation as an aid in creating an extended movement in Classical style. 2. Ability to sight read piano music. 3. Ability to analyse and play more difficult examples of figured bass from the literature 4. Ability to play continuo parts in ernsemble.
