COURSE DESCRIPTION (ENTIRE YEAR) Goals: Provide instruction in atonal set theory and other analytical approaches; intensive studies of several principal works of the modern period; provide opportunities for research, seminar presentation and discussion. LEARNING OUTCOMES (Spring) By the successful completion of this course, students will be able to show: 1. Understanding of post-1945 serialism 2. Ability to do individual research on a work of the 20th or 21st C. 3. Make a presentation and write a paper based on the research.
