A creative and analytical course designed to welcome music/sound-makers interested in connecting the sonic to the moving image. Students will create several guided audio-visual projects, while having the choice to bring in the type of [1] media to create with (found or original films; narrative-to-experimental film, sound installation, commercials, video games, and beyond) and [2] musical language and process; this is a course interested in students’ original voices, rather than mimicking pre-existing soundtracks, and encourages play and experimentation. Students will be expected to analyze and discuss films watched together in class, as well as offer constructive feedback to colleagues’ projects from week-to-week. Prerequisites: An ability to record music/sonic work into a computer, preferably through a DAW.
