Adaptation
Fall 2026
Taught By: Doug Morse
Section: A

CRN: 19680

Credits: 3

Students will select original source material—such as short stories, poems, films, or songs—and develop it into a full-length dramatic work. Through the study of both classic and contemporary adaptations alongside their source materials, students will explore the “how and why” of the adaptation process. The course emphasizes analysis of the creative choices dramatists make when translating works across forms. By comparing successful adaptations with their source materials, students will identify key tools and processes and apply them to their own adapted works.
