Filmmaking for Music Makers
College of Performing Arts: Coll of Performing Arts
CRN: 17083
Credits: 2
A creative workshop designed to introduce music/sound-makers to the filmmaking process through hands-on film production. Students will develop both practical and creative skills to produce moving-image projects, focusing on basic skills of direction, cinematography, editing, and more. Students will create projects that will take them through the complete process of pre-production, production, and post-production, allowing them to further their understanding of the technical and artistic elements of filmmaking. Students will both create projects as individuals and also as a larger collaborative team, learning to delegate responsibilities and work together as a class on a shared group project. By the end of the course the students will have an understanding of how to collaborate with filmmakers and other image makers, will have a grasp on the vocabulary, process, timeline, and resources needed to make collaborative visual-audio work and will have projects in their portfolio to share with prospective collaborators.
