Intergenerational Co-Mentoring Lab
College of Performing Arts: Coll of Performing Arts
CRN: 14927
Credits: 1
Imagine participating in a co-mentoring structure that dissolves hierarchy and focuses on distributed wisdom. Consider how lived experiences, although very different in length, can offer equally valuable insights. How might intergenerational thinking impact your art-making, affect your remaining time at the College of Performing Arts, and offer networking opportunities that connect you to your work beyond the classroom and school? Students and faculty from across the College will enter into this course together as equals. The Intergenerational Co-Mentorship Lab course asks faculty and students alike to take on the roles of learners and teachers. Co-mentors will be paired based on their artistic practices and will identify core interests and co-create an artistic project, all with an emphasis on socially engaged artistry. The course meets every other week (bi-weekly). Participants will be guided through the creation of co-mentorship structures and will be expected to meet with their co-mentor outside of class hours for one hour each week. Because all students in this course will be partnered with an inter-generational co-mentor, permission to register will be contingent on the availability of a suitable co-mentor.
