In Musical Theatre Performance Lab 2, students will build on the skills and concepts examined in Musical Theatre Performance Lab 1 to apply the craft of musical theater performance to specific style and genre. Much of the second Performance Lab will be focused on specific textual analysis, primarily through the exploration of complex contemporary musical theatre—Sondheim, and his artistic “offspring". A secondary goal of Musical Theatre Performance Lab 2 is to continue the collaboration with with the Musical Theatre Songwriting Lab. Students will be expected to be able to find and select material and prepare that material for presentation in class. To participate in Musical Theatre Performance Lab 2, students must have either completed Lab 1, or by permission.
