This course provides students interested in dramatic arts and performance an opportunity to explore and create solo performances. Students will analyze the dramatic structures and characteristics of one-person shows through a series of viewings and readings of contemporary solo performers. Using these works as prompts, students will engage in their own generative solo explorations, writing a series of short solo pieces throughout the semester. Topics will include among others, personal narrative and history, docudrama/found text, images as source, non- text-based storytelling, and performance art.
