A hands-on introduction to some basic building blocks of music: notes, intervals, scales, chords, voicings and spacing, meter and time signatures, the circle of fifths, and simple chords progressions, all with an emphasis on speed, accuracy, and facility. Course meets in the piano lab and focuses on production; i.e., notation and performing exercises at the keyboard. *Undergraduate students at The School of Jazz and Contemporary Music must receive a grade of C- or higher in any course required for the BFA degree for that course to satisfy the requirements for College of Performing Arts majors.
