Student participation will be determined by an audition of registered students on the first meeting date. A 20-45 member ensemble that performs music from a wide variety of genres including jazz, soul, pop, and improvised music. The instrumentation will vary according to the needs of the repertoire, but will ordinarily consist of a rhythm section, brass, and saxophones/woodwinds. Strings, vocalists, and auxiliary percussion will also commonly be employed. This group will host a guest artist and/or director for each concert, and will perform two unique concerts per semester.
