A research and performance based seminar that offers a select group of advanced music and drama students the opportunity to research a topic of their choice from the archive of the NYPL for the Performing Arts to inspire the creation of new chamber work. This course can be used to satisfy the Chamber Music requirement for Mannes students. Up to six students will be selected to take part in the seminar. The first group meeting will take place on Mon, Sept 12, 11:00am – 1:00pm at The NYPL for the Performing Arts, 111 Amsterdam Ave. with NYPL staff. The second meeting will take place mid-semester at 55 West 13th St with Jane Ira Bloom (TBA). Attendance at each of these meetings is a prerequisite of the course. At the conclusion of the semester students will perform their new works the evening of Mon, Dec 5, 6:00 pm at Bruno Walter Auditorium @ Lincoln Center and be available to tech Mon, Dec 5, 12:00pm - 5:30pm. Selection for participation in this class is at the discretion of the instructor.
