The class will focus on discoveries in creative music-making, and ensemble communication. The repertoire and ethos of Eric Dolphy will be examined to inform individual and collective musical development and presentation. Attendance will be utilized to rehearse the performance repertoire and to curate new arrangements to expand the class repertoire. Absences may compromise performance participation. Auditions: students will be prepared to play one of Eric Dolphy's compositions of their choice. The class will accommodate up to 2 players of each instrument; piano, vibes, bass, drums, winds, horn, and voice. Players may audition solo or with accompanists. By audition, at the instructor's discretion.
