"Elective Ensemble playing the work of supergroup Boygenius. By audition. The Boygenius Ensemble is a performance-based ensemble where students will explore the music of one of the most compelling bands in recent indie music history. This course is designed for students with a deep appreciation of indie music, and interest in examining the creative chemistry of Boygenius, with a particular emphasis on the songwriting style of Phoebe Bridgers. The ensemble will focus on performing a selection of Boygenius's songs, offering students the chance to refine their musical skills and enhance their performance abilities. Rehearsal time will be dedicated not only to practice, but also to discussions on the intricacies of the group's songwriting process, lyric and emotional depth, approach to harmony and instrumentation, and the influence of Boygenius on contemporary indie music. The five-week course will culminate in a final concert, where students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their growth and skills as musicians by performing the music of Boygenius."
