CRN: 19481

Credits: 2

Based on the 1978 Broadway musical “Ballroom,” this ensemble will be a workshop to explore and reinterpret the original material in a more jazz idiom. Student vocalists and instrumentalists will be working with faculty and professional performers in a rehearsal format to investigate the relationships, and emotional narratives of the songs and characters. While the focus will be on the songs and musical numbers, students will participate as well in refining and reworking the book/libretto of the musical, particularly the scene-into-song moments. The course will culminate with an in-progress presentation of the work.
