Behind every successful artist is a well-assembled and well-managed team. This course demystifies the business relationships that support a music career, with a focus on the jazz world and adjacent genres. Students will learn how to identify and engage with potential collaborators such as publicists, managers, agents, and labels, and gain an understanding into what each role entails, and how they intersect. This course will also outline strategies for managing your own team, setting expectations, maintaining professional communication and relationships, and navigating the art-business balance in our unique artistic ecosystem. This class will include guest speakers and real-life case studies.
