Experiments in Film Soundtracks will appeal to any students interested in the role that sound plays in constructing cinematic worlds. It is a film production course that explores the artistic possibilities of sound recording and design through hands-on filmmaking assignments. Students will receive instruction in the proper techniques for recording production sound for documentaries and narrative films as well as exploring "expanded" non-traditional approaches to sound recording, including hydrophones and contact microphones. All students taking this class are required to have completed at least one editing class and to be familiar with Adobe Premiere. NOTE: This course is open to Screen Studies and Culture & Media majors only. [Track S]
