Art & Politics of the Earth

Spring 2020

Taught By: Heather Davis

Section: A

CRN: 7356

Credits: 4

The devastation wrought to the environment is arguably one of the most pressing questions of our times. Artists have been engaging with the politics of the land and ecology in unique ways since at least the 1960s. Drawing on feminist, queer and decolonial perspectives, this course will ask, how do contemporary artists engage with the earth? What might we learn from various artistic and activist strategies? And can these be helpful in situating a new ecological imaginary?
