This course introduces students to the principles of socially responsible investing, covering contemporary issues such as fossil fuel divestment, impact investing, green finance, and labor screening. Students will explore the role of university endowments and pension funds in shaping financial ethics. A key component of the course is learning practical personal finance skills to empower informed, values-based decision-making. There will be hands-on problem solving with intensive one-on-one instruction if desired, as well as guest presentations from experts across the fields of finance, asset management, labor organizing, and financial activism. Students will leave with a toolkit for navigating financial decisions with confidence and integrity. Students from all New School divisions are welcome.
