Producing Podcast Interviews
Eugene Lang College Lib Arts: Journalism + Design

Credits: 4
Two-ways — audio stories where a host interviews a guest — are the cornerstone of podcasting, from news shows like The Daily to longer interview shows like WTF to chat shows like Las Culturistas. If you know how to produce a two-way, you can start your own podcast, and you’re qualified to work at any number of shows. This is a hands-on production class where students will work in teams to produce four ready-to-air two-way podcast interviews, rotating so that each student takes a turn performing each of the following roles: Interview Prep, Hosting, Audio Production, and Content Editing. Along the way, students will learn how to pitch an idea for an interview, book a relevant guest, research and write questions, conduct and produce an interview, and edit the raw audio for length and clarity.
