Data Storytelling
Spring 2025
Taught By: Alvin Chang
Section: AX

CRN: 2706

Credits: 4

Charts, maps, and interactive stories make for some of the most powerful journalistic storytelling today — and all of these forms are built upon data. In this class, students get comfortable finding and using data as part of their reporting process, then learn the design fundamentals and basic statistical methods required to clearly communicate data stories. By the end of the class, students learn how to ask data-driven questions; acquire, analyze and interpret data; and tell compelling and powerful visual stories that can empower audiences.
