The senior seminar is a 4000-level class in which students research and write an original work of literary criticism, consisting of approximately 30 pages, in a setting that encourages discussion and sharing of ideas. This an advanced course in Literary Studies, intended to prepare students to pursue graduate studies in English, Comparative Literature, and related fields. You will learn how to develop your own reading of literary texts in relation to existing theory and criticism; how to identify key themes or problems in the sub-field you have chosen; and how to combine critical thinking and textual analysis in the execution of a an article-length study, engaging with both primary and secondary texts.

After the first week of the semester, permission of the instructor will be required in order to register for this course.
