This course teaches the craft of songwriting with an eye towards obtaining non- traditional results via traditional song structures. Students will explore the verse-chorus- bridge form, perfect rhyme, and other popular music composition techniques, and students will learn how verses and choruses operate as building blocks of a song. Students will primarily workshop their own songs in class. NOTE: Students must be willing to learn and deliver assignments within the verse-chorus- bridge/perfect rhyme form, and all students must play an instrument that can be physically brought to class or manipulate music software to create songs.
