The Future We Want to Run Toward: Managing Eco-Anxiety Through Collective Imagination
Eugene Lang College Lib Arts: Eugene Lang
CRN: 17245
Credits: 1
This interdisciplinary course connects design, creative practice, and collective action with planetary systems thinking. Using The Planetary Boundaries Framework (PBF) as a diagnostic and reflective tool and aligned with the university-wide themes of Climate & Environmental Justice, Technology, Cities, and Democracy & Culture, students will explore and develop assets to address and alleviate eco-anxiety through creative practice (e.g., theater, dance, installation, narratives) and collective imagination. Each week focuses on one of the university’s themes in relation to the PBF, guiding students toward planetary self-awareness, community resilience, and system-level design. The final event is a collaborative, student-led activation during Earth Week 2026. This 1-credit course will meet for five sessions on Fridays between March 27 to April 24.
