Internship Seminar
Eugene Lang College Lib Arts: Eugene Lang
CRN: 1878
Credits: 1 TO 4
The primary focus of the Internship Seminar is to facilitate discussion of internship experiences and add value while providing resources and tools to support lifelong career success. Students will use group discussions, case studies, articles, journals, and visuals to process and evaluate their internship experiences - including struggles and achievements - in a supportive setting. Students will work together to establish and evaluate their own professional identities, develop an understanding of organizational cultures and how to navigate them effectively, and clarify their preferences in the world of work. Students will work towards these objectives while also trying to make the internship experience more productive and meaningful for themselves and their peers. In addition to journal assignments, students will learn how to create an effective resume and cover letter, work well with supervisors, prepare for future interviews, negotiate salary, and accept/decline future job offers. Upon successful completion of the seminar, students will be able to navigate organizational culture at an internship, build connections through networking, and will possess an increased awareness of career preparation and better defined career goals. The class will meet online on the following dates: (Note: All class meetings will take place on the following Mondays at 6pm EST via Zoom) February 24, March 3, March 17, March 31, April 28, and May 5.
