The primary focus of this course is to build on skills developed in LNGC 3901 Internship Seminar by facilitating an in-depth approach to developing career goals and preparing to successfully transition from college to career. Students will meet as a group and one-on-one to discuss internship challenges and successes with their peers. Through reflective writing assignments, students will examine several career-related topics such as Professional Identity and Company Culture, Short-term and Long-term Career Goals, Conflict Management, and Time Management. Students will learn how to develop their “elevator pitch” and build their professional network through alumni/industry connections. Students will have the opportunity to work one-on-one to refine resumes, cover letters, and interview skills in preparation for the internship/job search. Upon successful completion of the Internship Seminar Advanced, students will have clearly defined career goals and the tools needed to achieve them. The class will meet online on the following dates: (Note: All class meetings will take place on the following Thursdays at 6pm EST via Zoom) February 27, March 6, March 20, April 3, May 1, and May 8.

Students must have an internship secured in order to be able to participate in the course. Students may register for this course only with permission. To obtain permission to register, students must submit an Experience Learning Agreement (ELA) through HandShake.
