This course examines the role of negativity in the constitution of action and production, with a focus on the concepts of labor, idleness, utopia and dystopia, as they are discussed in the works of Thomas More, John Locke, Charles Fourier, Adam Smith, Paul Lafargue, Bertrand Russell, Ernst Bloch, Walter Benjamin, Hannah Arendt, Agnes Heller, Ursula LeGuin, and N. K. Jemisin.
