How do we make sense of people’s experiences, stories, and everyday lives? This course introduces students to the art and practice of qualitative research.Through guided practice, students learn to design small studies, carry out interviews and observations, and analyze the patterns and meanings that emerge from their data. Along the way, we consider what it means to represent others’ lives with care and integrity, and how our own perspectives shape what we notice. By the end of the course, students gain the confidence to use qualitative approaches to explore questions that matter to them and to communicate those insights with clarity and purpose.
