This course introduces students to the study of abnormal psychology. Students learn the current classification system (DSM V) for psychiatric disorders and become familiar with theories of etiology and treatment for individual disorders. Historical and contemporary conceptions of abnormal behavior are explored as well as controversies within the field regarding the classification, assessment, and treatment of psychological disorders.
