In this hands-on course, students create and design the next edition of The New Screen Fest (est. 2023), an end-of-semester film festival featuring the work of New School students and alumni with an emphasis upon capstone projects and other films made in production courses. Students will learn practical skills around organization, programming and curation, film writing and promotion, teamwork dynamics, and the technical logistics of a successful festival experience for the New School Community and the public at large. The class will include exciting guest speakers and field trips that provide students with a window into the world of film festivals and the ways that filmmakers and artists navigate them. [Track S]
