[Directing]: Nonfiction is a film production course centered around the art of nonfiction. Through directing exercises involving observational shooting, archival footage and, mostly centrally, interviews with friends, family, and one another, students learn how to turn real life into compelling films. This course relies heavily on pre-existing editing and cinematography skills. It is strongly recommended that students complete both Editing and Cinematography (taken spring 2025 or prior) or Screen Foundations (taken fall 2025 or later) or have demonstrably commensurate experience prior to registering for this course.
