[Post-Production]: Experimental Aesthetics
Eugene Lang College Lib Arts: Culture & Media
CRN: 18193
Credits: 4
A post-production class with equal emphasis upon conceptual and practical concerns, exploring picture and sound editing, color correction, basic motion graphics and visual effects. The class will explore film history, aesthetics, and technology, with specific focus on Non-fiction, Experimental fiction, and hybrid Documentary. Students will edit several projects, using some pre-existing material, but will primarily generate their own material that we will develop in a seminar style environment. The goal of the course is to develop the practical and analytic skills required of a filmmaker as a storyteller, through formal exercises, group critique and direct analysis. It is strongly recommended that students complete both Editing and Cinematography (taken spring 2025 or prior) or Screen Foundations (taken fall 2025 or later) or have demonstrably commensurate experience prior to registering for this course.
