Creative Production Sound for Film appeals to any students interested in the role that sound plays in constructing cinematic worlds. It is a film production course that considers the artistic possibilities of sound recording and design through hands- on filmmaking assignments. Students will receive instruction in the proper techniques for recording production sound (ambience, foley, and dialog) for use in documentaries and narrative films as well as exploring "expanded" non-traditional approaches to sound recording, including hydrophones and contact microphones. In addition, students will be introduced to the basics of designing soundtracks in preparation for a sound mix. All students taking this class are required to have completed at least one editing class and to be comfortable with Adobe Premiere.
