Intro to Playwriting
Spring 2023
Taught By: Elana Greenfield
Section: A
CRN: 13594
Credits: 4
This playwriting course employs a series of exercises to develop characters, settings, scenes, plot, and eventually a one-act play. Students read and discuss their plays in class during the writing and revising process; they also analyze a variety of dramatic texts and other sources to discover individual voice and understand narrative structure. Response papers on a theatrical production and a play reading in the city supplement this work. This course is one of the required foundational courses for Theater majors and minors.
