This course is an advanced monologue workshop, which is designed to prepare students for their next audition experience. Casting agencies have turned to virtual formats of self-taped auditions. Through extensive monologue study, students will learn to analyze a script and develop physical vocabulary, psychological gesture, vocal quality, while enhancing their emotional capacity to create boldly and finely tuned monologues that are also fun to perform. Students will explore audition techniques with acting and voice exercises with the goal of maximizing their impact in the audition room. Students will study two monologues from classical and contemporary plays. This course fulfills a theater elective requirement for Lang Theater majors and minors.
